Not Your Average Office Space

Not Your Average Office Space

If we know anything, it’s that office spaces (and meeting rooms) get a bad rap. And rightfully so—most of the one’s we’ve worked in have been pretty depressing. But, of course, it doesn’t have to be that way. We are constantly combing our favorite websites and books looking for spaces that inspire, so that we can take a little bit from each to create inspiring workspaces for you. Here’s a round-up of a few offices that we’d gladly spend the day in.

System Magazine, Issue 8 Shot by Juergen Teller

The newest issue of the bi-annual fashion magazine System features fashion designer Miuccia Prada photographed in her (very bare) office. While we’re not one for slides, Miuccia’s workspace is bold and streamlined, a perfect place to research and take care of business. She deserves a good slide every once in a while.

Photographer Juergen Teller worked with 6a Architects in London to build a concrete studio (laboratory?) for him and his assistants. It gets tons of good light, and has an open concept floor plan, perfect for props, backdrops, and other photo studio essentials.

But workspaces don’t always have to be so sterile. Here’s Everlane‘s San Francisco headquarters. To us, it’s the office equivalent to some nice cashmere sweatpants. Functional, clean, and cozy. Those plants really pop, huh?

Speaking of shrubbery, check out the SelgasCano architecture office in Spain. Staying late wouldn’t be so bad if it meant working under the stars.

The Urban Outfitters Campus in Pittsburgh is the epitome of industrial chic. Once a shipyard, the 350,000 square foot complex was revamped by Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle in 2011. Yeah, it’s huge.

This workspace is located in London’s historic Staple Inn. With huge vaulted ceilings and tons of seating, it’s pretty much an oasis to get stuff done. Oh, and there are hundreds of these spaces you can book on-demand, all from your mobile. Turns out you don’t need to be a famous architect to work like one.

We don’t do average.
